Bet Me

Here it is lovely readers, a book worth staying up until 5 am to finish. It may have made my 9 am wake-up call seem unbearable, but it was soo good. Check out "Bet Me" by Jennifer Crusie. I stumbled upon this book through the Borders app on my phone. It was the first book that I read solely on my iPhone. The small screen and needing to turn the page every couple of seconds was annoying, but the plot was so intriguing that I had to keep going.

What is it?
Minerva Dobbs is cursed with not only an awful name, but a family that mistreats and berates her. They claim to do it out of love, and to encourage her to lose some weight.
Cal Morrisey is a good looking man who likes a good bet. He just doesn't know that this bet is about to change his life.
Both characters are have settled into how they live their lives and deal with their families, but both are about to have things turned around. And of course there is a wedding, but relax it's with Min's sister.

What's good?
I love that they take a fresh twist on a cool guy betting another cool guy to take out a loser girl... that is so unrealistic and silly, and we all know how it will end...

There is also a fresh twist on the "oh we're dating, so now our conveniently single friends should start dating too." Also, an unrealistic classic romantic comedy situation.

Min is a very relatable main character, it is easy to feel her emotions. Plus, you get the story from Cal's perspective as well. It adds extra steam to the already hot story hearing his POV.

There is a very interesting subplot between Min's and Cal's exes.

Hot and sexy love scenes, and some involve Krispy Kremes. Yum!!

But, my favorite thing about this book is that there is a recap of what happens to all the characters in the end. You get to savor a bit more of happy times with the characters whom you've grown to love.

Enjoy!!!

I Remember You

Hello all... or just me. I am here to talk about Harriet Evans' new book, "I Remember You." I was all set to love this book, because so far I have loved everything that Evans has written. Her books are romantic and whimsical, and have strong female characters; everything that a good female book should have. But, I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. I usually love Evans use of descriptive detail, but it seemed to go on a bit and the wordiness was distracting.

What is it?
"I Remember You" is a tale of old friends reuniting. Tess Tennant moves back to her hometown after a ten year or so absence. Her hometown is quaint and small and full of people trying to preserve the town's charm. She instantly reconnects with her childhood best friend, Adam Smith. Things seem to pick up right where they left off, but the two are seemingly unaware that not just time has passed between them.

What's good?
I love the main character, Tess. She is independent, and vulnerable at the same time. After being dumped and fired, moving home gives her a chance to reinvent herself; but instead of picking usual heroine outlets (losing weight, new haircut, shagging someone inappropriate), she nestles in to herself and gets lost. I think a lot of women can relate to this feeling.

The book has a good battle of the will they or won't they aspect to a female and male friendship... you won't know what way it will end up.

There are a lot of things hidden in the plot, the characters may not be who they appear to be.

Also, a fabulous trip to Rome. I'm in.

Give it a read, and see for yourself.

the Little Lady Agency

I must confess that I pulled an all-nighter the other day. Being out of college, this is kind of incredulous, especially considering the reason. I simply could not put my book down. It was clever and compelling, and through me for a loop as to whom the heroine would end up with. The book that grasped my attention was the Little Lady Agency and the Prince by Hester Browne. But, to really get the love I experienced for this book, you have to back up to the first book, the Little Lady Agency.

the Little Lady Agency by Hester Browne

What it is?

The series follows Melissa Rommey-Jones on a journey of self-discovery. The first book starts with an erupt job loss that prompts her to take her life into her own hands, and create a world where her curves have a place and polite manner is respected. She starts a Little Lady Agency to help men grow up into proper dating material.

What’s good?

To escape her humdrum life, she creates a new persona, Honey Blennerhesket, a sassy blonde that oozes confidence.

Melissa is atypical in body figure, which gives her character some depth.

She has a gorgeous and sensitive male roommate.

With the creation of Honey, she takes on a sexy new client, and gets paid to go on fancy dates with him, talk about a dream job!

Melissa has a mantra of trying to find three positive things about every situation, which you will subconsciously bring into your life. I love that instead of bending over backwards to make her self fit in; she changes her life to fit her. I think we all could use that self- confidence.

Devouring the escapes of Honey will be a perfect summer escape! More importantly, the book picks up with The Little Lady and the Big Apple, and finally my fav, The Little Lady Agency and the Prince.

Enjoy!

Whatcha gonna get?

Welcome to my blog! I’m here to help you find the most interesting books that are aimed at female readers. I loathe using the word chick-lit, but that’s what sells, and what you may be more accustomed to hearing about. Since I read a lot, I’ll help you discover the books you should bring to the beach, read alone in bed, or switch off Glee to finish.

I’ll give you a quick rundown of the summary, and tell you why it’s worth dedicating time to something you don’t need to plug in. From time to time, I’ll dig up some interesting story tidbits and author ideas.

I hope my love of reading will extend to you!

Enjoy!
